Trixie and Patty, two best friends who shared a love for bright lights and questionable financial decisions, decided to spend their Saturday night at the glitzy “Golden Nugget” Casino. Before they even walked through the revolving doors, they made a solemn pact: each would take $50, and when their money was gone, they would meet at the front entrance on the big velvet bench to wait for the other. No exceptions.
Trixie headed straight for the flashy slot machines near the bar. She pulled the lever, watched the lights flash, and listened to the bells ring. But within twenty minutes, her $50 was gone. True to her word, she trudged to the front of the casino, sat on the bench, and waited.
She waited. And waited.
She checked her watch. An hour passed. Then two. Then three. Trixie was getting restless. She watched people walk in and out, but no Patty. She started to worry. Had Patty won the jackpot? Had she been kidnapped by a high-roller? Was she stuck in a VIP lounge eating caviar?
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Trixie saw Patty emerging from the depths of the casino floor. But Patty wasn’t just walking; she was struggling. She was dragging a massive, burlap sack that clinked and clanked with every step. It was filled to the brim with quarters.
Patty dropped the heavy sack on the floor with a thud, wiped sweat from her brow, and grinned wildly. “Hey, Trixie!
How’d you do?”
“Not very good,” Trixie replied, eyeing the sack suspiciously. “I lost my fifty bucks in twenty minutes. I’ve been sitting here for hours waiting for you! Where have you been?”
Patty laughed, slapping her knee. “You should have been with me! Did I ever find a good machine! It’s way in the back, past the poker tables, near the restrooms. Come on, I’ll show it to you… you literally can’t lose!”
Trixie leaned in, intrigued despite herself. “Really? What’s the payout?”
Patty whispered excitedly, “It’s amazing! Every time you put a dollar in, you win four quarters!”
