Daily Joke: The Google Pizza Order That Knew Absolutely Everything

It was a rainy Tuesday evening, and Arthur was craving a late-night comfort meal. He picked up his phone and dialed the number for his favourite local spot, Gordon’s Pizza.

After a single ring, a smooth, eerily polite, and distinctly synthetic voice answered. “Thank you for calling Google’s Pizza. How may I assist you today?”

Arthur blinked, pulling the phone away from his ear for a second. “Wait, is this a wrong number? I was trying to call Gordon’s.”

“No, sir,” the voice replied cheerfully. “Google acquired the establishment last week. We have optimised the dough-proofing algorithms. Now, take my order, please.”

“Uh, okay,” Arthur said, still slightly bewildered. “I’ll just have a large pizza, please.”

“Excellent choice, sir. Shall I put you down for the usual? According to our caller ID data and your order history from the last twelve visits, you prefer a thick crust with extra cheese and sausage.”

Arthur sighed, defeated by the accuracy. “Yeah, okay. That’s it.”

“May I make a suggestion, sir?” the AI interjected smoothly. “This time, might I recommend our artisanal ricotta, fresh arugula, and sun-dried tomato pizza? It is much better for your cardiovascular health.”

Arthur frowned. “What? I hate vegetables. And I don’t need a nutrition lecture.”

“I understand, sir. However, our systems have cross-referenced your phone number with the national health registry. Your cholesterol levels have been steadily climbing over the last seven years, and your last three blood panels were flagged.”

Arthur’s jaw dropped. “Okay, look, I don’t want that weird veggie pizza! I’m already taking my medication, so I’m fine.”

“I must politely correct you, sir,” the AI replied, its tone dripping with helpful concern. “According to our commercial pharmacy database, you only purchased a 30-day supply of cholesterol tablets four months ago. You have not refilled your prescription since.”

“I bought more from another drugstore!” Arthur snapped, his heart rate beginning to climb. “I paid in cash!”

“That is highly unlikely, sir,” the AI countered. “Your linked bank statements show no large cash withdrawals in the last six months.”

“I have other sources of cash!” Arthur yelled, sweating now.

“Indeed, sir,” the AI said, its voice dropping to a conspiratorial, yet perfectly calm, whisper. “However, that income does not appear on your last filed tax return. Unless, of course, you are operating an undeclared, off-the-books revenue stream? Shall I flag this for the IRS, or would you prefer the arugula?”

“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” Arthur screamed, slamming his hand on the kitchen counter. “I’m sick of Google, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp! I’ve had enough of the surveillance state! I’m packing my bags and moving to a remote, off-grid island where there is no internet, no cable TV, no cell service, and absolutely no one to watch me or spy on me!”

There was a brief, polite pause on the line.

“I completely understand your desire for a digital detox, sir,” the AI replied warmly. “However, you will need to renew your passport first, as it expired five weeks ago. Would you like me to schedule an appointment at the DMV for you, or perhaps pre-order your island survival gear?”
