Daily Joke: The Owner Who Preferred Dogs Over Human Guests

Arthur was a meticulous planner who believed that every detail of his vacation needed to be perfect. He had booked a stay at the “Whispering Pines Inn,” a charming, family-run hotel in a quiet Midwest town known for its hospitality and homemade pies.

However, Arthur had one non-negotiable companion: Barnaby, his Golden Retriever, who was less of a pet and more of a furry emotional support anchor.

Knowing that many hotels had strict “no pets” policies, Arthur decided to write a heartfelt letter to the owner, Mr. Henderson, well in advance. He poured his soul into the email:

“Dear Mr. Henderson, I am writing to inquire if I might bring my dog, Barnaby, with me on my upcoming visit. Barnaby is exceptionally well-groomed, house-trained, and possesses the manners of a British diplomat. He does not bark, he does not shed excessively, and he sleeps quietly at the foot of the bed. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?

I assure you, he will be no trouble at all.”

Arthur hit send and waited nervously. To his surprise, an immediate reply pinged back from Mr. Henderson. Arthur opened it, expecting a polite refusal or perhaps a list of strict conditions. Instead, he found a letter that read:

“Dear Arthur, thank you for your inquiry. I have been operating this hotel for over thirty years. In all that time, I have never had a dog steal the fluffy white towels, the crisp bedclothes, or the silverware from the dining room. I have never had a dog tear the framed landscapes off the walls to take as souvenirs. I have never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk, disorderly, and singing loudly in the hallway. And, most importantly, I have never had a dog check out early and run out on the hotel bill without paying.

Yes, indeed, your dog is more than welcome at my hotel. And, if your dog will vouch for you and guarantee your behavior, you are welcome to stay here, too.”
